The Spring Fling:

Try the Island Hopper or The Classic

Come RIDE the Spring Fling, a 9 day cycling trip on the Sunshine Coast of B.C. and Vancouver Island.  We will stay in the comfort of roofed accommodations along the way at hostels and hotels.  As the West Coast is known for milder temperatures than Alberta, this is a great opportunity to get some early season miles in the saddle and get a jump start on your summer conditioning.

The highways are quiet and little traveled at this time of year compared to the summer months.

Currently there are 2 versions of the Spring Fling.  The Classic that has run for many years and the Island Hopper which was introduced in 2015.  I have decided to run The Classic version in 2018.

The route along the Sunshine Coast to Lund is hilly with lots of elevation won and lost, again and again as coastal highways tend to be.  There are many interesting places along the way to stop, look and rest.  Once we cross over to Vancouver            Island we follow the old highway which gives us marvelous views of the ocean along the way to Nanaimo.

The itinerary has been designed to allow for ferry schedules and the possibility of rain.  The must ride sections each day are reasonably short, up to 70 kilometers, however there are optional rides to increase the mileage and explore.
