August 26 to September 5
Kootenay Kruise 2011

The Kootenay Kruise is a 10 day ride that begins two Fridays prior to Labour Day.  This year it will start on August 26.  The West Kootenays are known for relatively quiet roads, lots of places to stop and swim and many friendly little towns. This is an advanced ride as it is hilly and the distance to be covered is 50 to 100 kilometres per day. The Kootenay Kruise has exhilarating downhills which are honestly earned on the thigh burning climbs.

The scenery is always changing with valleys and mountains to thick bush and lakes.  The trip offers many activities such as a day of hiking, exploration of deserted mining towns and great food.

This trip will have vehicle support to carry luggage and a designated driver. The SAG vehicle has a bike rack along with the ability to carry one tired/sick rider as needed.

There are 6 nights of camping on the relative comfort of grassy lawns interspersed with 4 nights sleeping in the comfort of roofed accommodation.  We have easy access to laundry facilities on days 3, 4 & 7. The trip will begin at Blanket Creek Provincial Park, BC, about 15 minutes south of Revelstoke on highway #23.

Though this trip has run every year since 2004, the decision has been made to organize it on alternate years rather than annually and 2011 is the year to Kruise the Kootenays.  Register today!

In recognition of comments brought forward by EVCC members over the years, I have changed  the 2011 Kootenay Kruise somewhat.  I have decreased the number of camping nights and sprinkled the trip with the comfort of roofed accommodation.  Obviously this change will increase the cost of the trip.  For further details, check the itinerary page.
